About
Erin’s hometown is Puyallup, WA, and she started playing the cello at 9 years old in elementary strings program. She was also a member of the Tacoma Youth Symphony. Erin studied cello with David Tonkonogui of the Seattle Symphony, Nancy Ives of the Oregon Symphony and Hans Jorgen Jensen at Northwestern University. She has studied Suzuki method with renowned teacher trainers including Andrea Yun, Carey Beth Hockett, Carey Cheney, Anne Grabe, Edmund Sprunger, Carol Tarr, and Shu-Yi Scott. Erin is registered for books 1-4 and has taken additional courses on the Suzuki method, supplementary literature, group classs techniques, and online teaching. Erin enjoys working with students of all ages and ability levels. She has also been a professional freelance cellist since 2001. Erin has served as Assistant Principal Cello of the Vancouver Symphony since 2006 and also currently performs with the Portland Chamber Orchestra.
